Cool Season Millinery

It's time to think about Autumn-Winter Millinery.

As we head into the cooler months we see a change in millinery from straw and sinamay to warmer fabrics such as leather, velvet, feathers and felts to name a few.

I really enjoy creating with these materials, especially leather, and I use it a lot in my millinery. Many different styles of flowers can be made in leather giving each headpiece a unique look. As you can see in my trans-seasonal and winter ranges, leather flower headbands are a great favourite of mine.

Flower headbands are so easy to wear, lightweight and comfortable. Comfort is really key when I'm making headpieces, as at most events like race days, you can be wearing millinery up to 6 hours or longer. There is nothing worse than a headband hurting behind your ears.

As we move into winter you will see more beautiful felt hats. The Brisbane Racing Carnival commencing in May is the perfect time to be wearing your felt millinery.

Don't forget, I will be showcasing my winter range at The Brisbane Millinery Fair on April 10 at The Hamilton Hotel alongside 7 other Qld milliners all with such different styles. Also, to complete your outfits there will be accessories and cosmetics, a millinery runway show will also be a highlight of the day. All the details to purchase tickets are on my last blog or just click the link above.

Hope to see you there.
